This is a question I asked myself time and time again when wearing the Apple Watch; do I really need this Watch? After wearing a Fitbit Charge and Charge 2 for a year, I have to say that I don’t need or want anything else.
Smartwatches were not meant to be for this generation. If you think responding to text messages and using apple pay on your wrist is smart, you’re completely underestimating the future of smart devices. We have merely scratched the surface of possibility involving the Apple Watch.
For right now, the gimmicks of the Apple Watch don’t trump the usefulness of the Fitbit. Working out is much more available and simple when you just need to hold down a button to start the tracking, and battery life lasts more than a couple days easily.
I’m not saying these things can’t be done on the Apple Watch, but it comes down to this: if you know you want to track workouts, the Fitbit is the top contender. But if you just want a Smartwatch to have one, you’ll probably want a Samsung Watch before the Apple Watch.
